First impressions..
It's nice. It plays nice, looks nice and has some nice co-op features. Quite nice!
Performance-wise it's impressive for a beta. It's smooth, no frame drops, no noticeable lag, proximity chat seemed to work quite well and the gameplay was solid - good fluid cover movement and the shooting mechanics are simple but effective.
Bumping into a stranger in the dark zone and teaming up to go killing, looting and extracting the goods with the never-ending tense feeling of someone stabbing you in the back or opposition players trying to kill and steal your loot is quite fun. But the problem is what happens beyond that formula of go to X, kill the bad guys, take the loot and extract it?
If it has some more, better, unique co-op game modes like Destiny's strikes and raids then it'll be interesting. If not it'll be like Destiny without strikes and raids which is a repetitive mini-mmo with leveling and getting better loot your only real objective. Without raids and strikes I'd have zero interest in Destiny. Those co-op experiences are the meat on the bones.
The other problem is the enemy-types. Thugs with guns and thugs with more body armour and bigger guns every now and then. They can turn into bullet sponges which is never fun and it's more of a problem because you know you're shooting at a guy wearing jeans rather than a 10ft Hollowed Knight from Destiny. This something they can tweak or improve. At least it's not another zombie invasion thingy.
Hopeful for it because I think it has potential but worried they'll be lightweight on game-modes and it'll be a repetitive grinding loot gatherer with three DLC expansions for more of the same.
